After a full day of work, you may feel tempted to get on the couch and relax for the night. The stressors of your job mean you need time to unwind. What if you used your free time to go to the gym instead? Drew’s journey made him realize he needed to exercise and improve his body. By making the gym part of his routine, he’s significantly changed his physical and mental health.
Drew’s Journey to Fitness
Motivation is critical to people getting up and being active. If you aren’t interested in your workout, you may skip the gym and stay home instead. Drew said he wasn’t physically active before going to the gym, with occasional running being his primary form of exercise. Ultimately, he wasn’t having fun. “It was kind of boring and not hitting those main areas,” he said.
However, he needed a boost because work was causing stress. Drew’s not alone in his journey — a 2023 American Psychological Association survey found that 77% of Americans experience work-related stress. Before joining the gym, Drew felt he wasn’t adequately addressing it.
“I’d go home and sit on the couch,” he said. “That really wasn’t the best and had no benefits.”
Taking the First Steps
While gyms are essential public spaces for exercise, joining one isn’t always an easy decision. Seeing in-shape people may intimidate you or raise insecurities. Drew thought perhaps he wasn’t as fit compared to the other guys at the gym.
However, it didn’t take long for Drew to feel at home. Once he joined Chris Protein Personal Training, Drew found his footing and progressed.
“It was a little intimidating at first, but after the first two sessions, it was really inviting,” he
said. “It’s nice to see people inside the gym and outside the gym as well.”
The Impact of Drew’s Journey to Better Health
Since joining the gym, Drew has noticed drastic changes in his physical appearance and mental health. Even his wife can see how far he’s come.
“I’ve seen big body transformations, which I can tell, and my wife as well,” Drew said. “I see a massive transformation in my strength, physique, activity level and mental stability.”
The looks and compliments Drew gets are a major boost to his self-esteem. Friends and family tell him how great he looks, uplifting his confidence. “I never get compliments from my older brother like that. He’s like, ‘Wow, what are you doing differently?’”
Drew said he wants to make himself and others proud of his progress at the gym. check out his full testimonial below!
How Exercise Improves Your Health and Confidence
Once you hit the gym regularly, you’ll see improvements in your physical health and confidence. Start by prioritizing 30 minutes daily for exercise. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends adults get at least 150 minutes weekly, including at least two strength training sessions.
The effects of exercise are noticeable in the short and long term. After exercising, you may experience reduced anxiety symptoms because your brain produces more endorphins. These chemicals elevate your mood and improve your well-being.
Exercise also improves sleep quality by boosting melatonin production and lowering cortisol levels. When you work out regularly, you see the difference in everyday life — not just the gym. Drew said his fitness routine has paid dividends at work and other places.
