Halloween Workout Recap

Celeste Chamaa hosted the Chris Protein Personal Training Halloween workout, a fun full-body workout that that got members pushing hard and feeling motivated! The event was all about teamwork, community, and enjoying the season!

Exercises at the Group Workout

The Halloween workout included various exercises to increase participants’ heart rate and motivation, including:

1. Strength Training

Building muscle is essential to looking and feeling strong, so the workout included strength training with resistance exercises. Romanian deadlifts, push-ups, lunge-to-press and squats were some of the favorites.

2. Cardio and Endurance

Along with the strength was some high rep, low rest, exercises which made for a great burn and a challenging endurance workout. This type of combo is excellent for elevating your heart rate and helping you effectively get in shape.

3. Mobility Exercises

Cardio and strength training are essential for your workouts, but mobility cannot be overlooked. The Halloween session focused on flexibility and range of motion when warming up and cooling down to ensure safety.

Recap of Past Events Like the Halloween Workout

Halloween wasn’t the only time Austin residents got to work out together. Chris Protein Personal Training hosts group exercise sessions throughout the year to help the community get in shape. Check social media pages and watch for announcements on when these events are. You don’t have to be a member to join!

One of the most fun sessions of 2024 was the group workout for the American Cancer Society. The trainers and participants raised money for the nonprofit and enjoyed exercising. Chloe, Celeste and the other trainers love engaging with community members regardless of their skill level. Squats, lunges and weightlifting highlighted this workout session last spring.

While most group workouts are indoors, some events take you outside. Last fall, the community enjoyed outdoor exercise with Emory Blake, one of the experts at Chris Protein Personal Training. The former NFL player led participants in agility drills, sprint workouts and mobility exercises for the hips and ankles.

Reasons to Join a Community Workout

Anyone can benefit from grabbing a partner or joining a group workout session. Here are three reasons to exercise with the community.

1. Motivation

When you see others exercising, you feel motivated to match their energy. Group workouts are fantastic because they are high in energy and intensity. Plus, they’re great for perfecting your form and ensuring quality exercise. Trainers watch participants and help them if something seems off with their movements. With their expertise, you can look and feel better when you exercise in a group setting.

2. Accountability

Group workouts also aid accountability when you make friends at the event. While your goals may differ, you and other participants likely share common fitness interests. Experts say 30% of American adults have obesity due to sedentary lifestyles and diet with junk food. Therefore, it’s wise to share healthy recipes and habits with your newly found friends at group workout events.

3. Inspiring Yourself

Working out with others is terrific for motivation and increasing your energy levels. That said, group exercise is excellent for inspiring yourself. When you exercise with the community, it pushes you to your limits and helps your psychological needs. Researchers say group exercise helps your competence in specific disciplines. Plus, it reinforces fulfilling behaviors to bring you back for more exercise.
