How to Stay Fit During the Holidays

Recently I was asked by Porch.com how people should best go about staying active during the winter season.

The main problem I see is that the holiday rush and winter blues are used as a reason to give up on fitness, with the idea that anything lost will be made up for come Jan 1. This justifies going completely off the rails with diet and exercise during this time, and often losing any progress made or even regressing to worse than before.

The best approach is to be flexible - an all or nothing mindset will actually hurt you here. But at the same time hold yourself accountable to reasonable goals that you can maintain over the season. This may be less than what you normally do, but it will be enough to maintain and keep from having to start all over from scratch.
